Richard's Famous Original Garlic Salt or Salty Sea Garlic Salt
Butternut squash seasoned beautifully makes eating veggies a delight.
Ingredients
1 medium butternut squash ( or purchase pre-cut, fresh butternut squash)
2 T. butter
2 T. real maple syrup OR brown sugar
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. Richard’s Famous Punkin Patch Pumpkin Spice Seasoning (to taste)
1/2 to 1 tsp. Richard's Famous Original Garlic Salt or Salty Sea Garlic Salt (to taste)
Directions
Cut squash into cubes and cut off the rind. Remove seeds. Tip: if you microwave the whole squash before cutting for a minute or so (depending on the size of your squash) it will be much easier to cut through.
Carefully add the cubes of peeled squash to a large pot of boiling water. Return to a boil, then lower heat to a hard simmer and cook until tender, about 15 minutes, or until a fork is easily inserted into the squash.
Remove from heat and drain squash into a colander. Return squash to pan.
Mash the squash with a hand masher until smooth.
Over medium low heat, cook the squash for about 30-1 minute seconds to remove any excess water.
Start with the lowest measure of seasoning and salt, and add more if desired, to taste.
Add butter and syrup or brown sugar and stir well, over medium low heat, until butter is melted.
Serve immediately, or refrigerate and reheat on stovetop prior to serving.
