Grampa’s Cinnamon French Toast
Make it with:
Grampa’s Favorite Apple Pie Spice
Tastes like a warm cinnamon roll! Wake up to this easy, fragrant, delicious breakfast.
Ingredients
1 T. sugar
1/2 tsp. Grampa’s Favorite Apple Pie Spice (shake jar before opening)
1/2 tsp. table salt
1 C. dairy milk or plant milk
1 tsp. Vanilla
4 eggs
9 slices of sandwich bread
Butter for skillet
Real maple syrup
Directions:
Stir together the sugar, salt and Grampa’s Favorite Apple Pie Spice.
In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, eggs and vanilla. Whisk in dry ingredients, a little at a time, until you have a smooth, even mixture.
Heat a skillet over medium high heat, then reduce heat to medium low. Add a teaspoon of butter.
Submerge each side of a piece of bread in the custard mixture. Place in the hot pan. Three pieces of bread fit in our skillet at one time.
Fry the French toast until golden brown on one side, then flip and cook the other side until golden brown. Don’t let the French Toast cook too quickly or the outside will turn dark and the center will be too wet. Low and slow is best.
Serve immediately with maple syrup, or keep warm in the oven until all pieces are cooked.
